Holy Childhood Association (HCA)

Holy Childhood Association – HCA, is a link offered by the church to the young all over the world. It is an association in the Catholic Church for children between 3 – 14 years. It is part of the Pontifical Missionary Societies and enjoys the protection and patronage of the pope. It’s motto is: CHILDREN HELPING CHILDREN.
Principal aims of HCA
1. As our Catholic men, women Youths and students do have organisations that units them, so is the HCA to unit all our little ones between the ages of 3 to 14 and make them friends of Jesus. They will learn how to win other friends for Jesus.
2. It widen the horizon for our Children i.e. to make them aware of the universality of the Church and of the poverty, both spiritual and material.
3. To realize that they have a mission from Christ as baptized Catholics, to bring his Goodnews in all its fullness to others far and near.
4. To CARE about Children of other ethnic groups and other races and religions, to PRAY to our common Father for his Children, and to SHARE generously.

The Holy Childhood Association trains the Children in the way of self sacrifice. It depends their faith and teaches them the duty of sharing their faith with other Children; it gives them an early training and and abiding love for the apostolate of the Church

Here’s a brief write-up about the Catholic Men’s Organisation (CMO):
Our slogan is ” CMO… CHRIST IS OUR LEADER. Also Saint Joseph the worker is our Patron saint. And we mark and celebrate Him every 1st day of May.
Mission Statement:
The Catholic Men’s Organisation (CMO) is a fellowship of Catholic men dedicated to serving the Lord, the Church, and the community through spiritual growth, social service, and charitable works.
Objectives:
– To promote the spiritual growth and development of Catholic men
– To foster a sense of community and fellowship among Catholic men
– To serve the Church and the community through various charitable works and social services
– To support the Catholic Church’s teachings and values

Activities:
The CMO engages in various activities, including:
– Spiritual retreats and workshops
– visiting the sick,
– Fund-raising, donations to the needy
– Social events e.g. sporting activities, fellowship gatherings, family & outings
Membership:
Membership is open to all Catholic men who are committed to the CMO’s mission and objectives. Members are encouraged to participate actively in the organisation’s activities and to contribute their time, talent, and resources to the service of God and the community.
Vision:
The CMO envisions a community of Catholic men who are spiritually strong, socially responsible, and committed to serving the Lord and the Church.

Catholic Women Organization (CWO)
CWO serves the church in Evangelization, Charity, Empowerment of women, Assist in the development of the church.
Equally we, render services that assist our youths in receiving religious, political, social and economic education. We support the less privileged in our society, to establish a strong relationship with other organisations within and outside the church.
We support the total advancement of women, geared towards self reliance, and girl child education and family education, and in general support the local church.
VISION: To promote the presence, participation and co-responsibility of Catholic women in the church in order to enable them fulfil their mission of evangelism and to work for human development. As an umbrella body of Catholic women in Nigeria and in cooperation with the World Union of Catholic Women Organisation (WUCWO) rallies and motivates Catholic Women in Nigeria to utilise and harness their energy for evangelisation and transformation of the society.


KNIGHTS OF ST JOHN

BRIEF HISTORY OF KNIGHTS OF ST JOHN INTERNATIONAL AND LADIES AUXILIARY OF ST MARTIN DE-PORRES COMM #487 AND QUEEN OF MARTYR LAUX #560 KATSINA, KATSINA STATE.
The birth of the sovereign military order of St John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta otherwise known as Knights of Malta or Order of Malta dates back to 1048 AD. For centuries, they engaged in serious battle Empires and cities destroyed, thousands of lives lost while the order fought bin defense of the church and Christians.
Re – established in the nineteen century, the order named “The knights of St John aimed from the on set to nurse the sick and help the needy. This desire found expression in various cities of the union, but it received its first embodiment and realization in Dayton, Ohio. In the year which was so eventful for the Catholic Church at large the year of the Vatican council and the spoliation of Rome.
In October 1870 a modest and quiet attempt was made in Holy Trinity Parish in Dayton, Ohio, to form a society of Catholic Knights with the following charter members: L. ButzJr, , J. Thomas, A. Hasenstab, N. Thomas, J. Hasenstab, J. U Krecdler., W. Legler, J. Berberich and A. Weingartner.
Since then, the order has been growing consistently. As of today, there is One Supreme Commadery and 16 Grand Commanderies, 15 Regiments, 47 Districts, 280 local commanderies, 8 Noble temple and 3 chavelier temple with membership of over 15,000 and 10,000 for sisters.
THE ORDER IN NIGERIA
The history of the Noble Order of Knights of St John international dates back to 1976 at Enugu. The founder Late Col Kevin Ejiogu. Through his application dated 5tb April 1975, he sought the approval of the then Bishop of Enugu Late Most Rev Godfrey Mary Paul Okoye to establish the order in Enugu Diocese. As the Holy Spirit directed, the Bishop ignored all the entreaties of those who felt he should disallow the order and granted the request in his letter dated 23rd June 1975, the eve of the feast of St John the Baptist. The will of God was done, the then founding fathers were initiated, Holy Spirit Commadery 414 inaugurated, the officers installed. The ceremony took place from 4th and ended on Holy Trinity Sunday 6th June 1976 at the Holy Ghost Cathedral Enugu with Rev Fr S. N Ezeanya was the first Spiritual Adviser. Fr Ezeanya later became the Archbishop of Onitsha and died later as the Archbishop Emeritus of Onitsha.
THE HISTORY OF THE ORDER IN NIGERIA
In the spirit of expansion, the then Jos Grand Commandery under the leadership of the Grand Charter Grand President, Late Brig. Gen. Alex lkeasomba inaugurated Katsina Commandery with the Charter name and number as follow in the year February 1991.
